What's the best and cheapest dog food for a 3 month old lab? I have been feeding her Purina One Puppy, but that is the most expensive one at Wal-mart.

hi all, I am new to this. I have one question. My Shetlin Sheeddog is 4 months old, sweet, smart but 100% deaf. She is learning sign commands really easy but my question is...What is the best way to teach her to come to me when I sign it to her.? She has learned to sit and stay on command and is also pottie trained, I just cant get her to understand I want her to come to me. She just stands there looking at me with head cocked to the side, she knows I want her to do something, she just dont know what. Help !

Well, I went and got the other dog. She's a short-haired Australian Shepard. The two dogs were in love at first sight. no hackles or growling or really much sniffing before they were chasing all over the place. she is young and has a lot of energy which has been perfect for my boy who is very shy and sits alone too much . Now we have a whole new bag of issues.. LOL..

Hi, I am new.. just learning how this all works. Here's my situation. I have adopted a dog from a pound in a large city. He was sick and very frightened when I got him. His health issues have been addressed now so i am working on his socialization. He loves dogs and mistrusts people, unless they have a dog.. then they are ok too. I have been wondering if getting another dog to keep him company while i am at work might be a good idea. Or would it be preferable to keep him an "only child" for a while? Thoughts?

    Hi All,

Am hoping someone here will be a able to give me a bit of advice in regards to my dogs Hope and Poppy both females. A maltese and a maltese X.. They have been with me for a little over 2 years, but lately one of them is extremly dominant. They fight so much and I think its because the younger one is now the dominant, whereas is used to be the other way round..

I'm just not sure what to do about the situation, at the moment i have the more aggressive one on check chain but im not sure if this is going to help the problem. Really there both as bad as one another..

Any response would be much appreciated

    Thanks

With regards to the Chihauhua - suggest he needs a vet check up - especially if he is listless or showing any other symptoms. There are numerous medical reasons for lack of appetite which will need to be ruled out. Blood tests might be indicated as well as checking for worms (internal parasites) which could involve further tests. Pups that age normally have a good appetite.
Before any behavioural cause is considered you must first rule out any physiological cause. Good luck

I have an 8 week old chihuahua who is not eating very much- I need to know how much they should be taking in? The bag of food says a full cup a day but he is only taking 1/4- 1/2 cup a day! He just came home with us 2 days ago, and we have been giving hime honey to prevent hypoglycemia. Any advice welcome!

Just had another thought - be sure to get her pancreas tested as well!
I am not sure what kinds of internal parasites are found where you live, here in SA we have one that certainly affects weight (spirospondilousis -spl?) and often causes digestive problems - just a thought.
