What we know about the dog helps. At least one of his parents had to be brindle. Both of his parents had to at least carry the saddle marking, since it's recessive. That narrows your choices down a bit. If I had to guess, I'd say Plott (can be brindle + saddled) x GSD (saddled) x something else, there doesn't necessarily have to be only two breeds in there.

My dogs temperament: Loves other dogs, and has never had and issue with one. Very good watch dog, and extremelly protective (not agressive). Loves people, but sometimes seems nervous around some small children. Extremely active, as I stated before, but did not inherit the labs retrieving ability!
Very good sence of smell and loves to have his nose to the ground. I'm not fully set on hound though because when he smells a bear he goes running back with his tail between his legs, and he HATES guns and loud noises. Also his bark resembles nothing of a hound. It's fairly deep though especially when he's "on duty".

Oh and for the conformation, he has webbed paws, but WILL NOT swim! He loves water but is terrified of letting his paws leave the ground!

All those things you've mentioned as his temperment just described all 4 of my dogs. (3 shelties and a wiem)

I'd say he's Plott hound, GSD, and Rottie. Rot would give him the weight and broad head. GSD would give him his height. Plott would give him his coloring. You need to remember that a mix isn't going to have all the characteristics of just one breed. They will take on a smidge, if any, of all that is mixed in. Add a bit of how he was raised and you have a totally unique dog that doesn't meet just one standard other than what he may look like. (does that make sense?)

So just because he doesn't bay like a hound (which honestly I don't know if plotts bay or not), doesn't like loud noises (my weim is gun shy also and we trained him to hunt), and runs from a bear (heck I'd run to!) does not totally eliminate that possibility.

Disliking bears and loud noises = non hound? That isn't quite how inheritance works.

Oh and his eyes are a light tan. Not sure what breeds those features might resemble.

I realize you're 17 so I'll try to break this down a bit.

It's quite possible your dog has many, many breeds mixed in him.
As a mixed breed dog, it will NEVER follow of the entire realm of a pure bred dog.
Doesn't sound at all like you've even looked up what a Plott Hound as many have suggested it could be in his make up. We'll never know for sure what he is.
You really should be a little more open to the answers other give you when you ask for their opinions.

First of all, I am open to hearing peoples answers. And my being 17 (almost 18) does not mean that I do not understand what you are trying to tell me. So please try not to be quite so judgmental.

I could be entirely wrong about him not beign part Plot Hound, I really have no clue what he has since he was dropped on a highway at only a few weeks old. No one ever will know for sure, I just wanted to hear what people possibly thought. Which I have.
I have looked up facts on the Plot Hound and I just don't see much that suggests it with his characteristics... and I do belive I know my dog pretty well. But like I said I could be wrong.

I expect that he probably does have many, many breeds in him as you suggested, and I DO know that he will not inherit a single breed's characteristics, since he's a mutt. As far as taking the brindle coloring from the Plot Hound, there are many other breeds which carry that coloring.

Whatever he is I love him! Thanks for all the comments and thoughts from all of you!
