lol we are all adults if people can not behave themselves be responsible for there own actions and do there jobs regardless of there sex and orientation then they really dont belong in the army do they

i have always thought it was funny when a group of people can not control there urges they ban women or whatever so they dont have to control themselves personally i think thats silly

The reality is just a tad different.
I, as a female, recognize that I can not perform in certain situations like a man.

Another reason we don't hear much in the news about females in the Military is because, as I previously mentioned, tight knit community and the Military operates behind closed doors when it comes to internal affairs.

lol though there are some facts to that article there are some silly generalizations typical biased hype from people who want nothing more then to make a point regardless of the facts there is no reason to everyone in combat needs to be the same women have more then enough strength physically and mentally united states needs to utilize what they women as well as men

and as for the getting captured and raped yes that can happen and the women who serve this country know this and they put there lives and other things on the line anyway i will not cheapen that decision by not acknowledging they know whats at stake they serve our country bravely and with honour and my hats off to them

Could you see an average size woman carry a 180 lbs male soldier?
I can't .....I can't even pick up one of my GSDs weighing 96 lbs.

Maybe you can do it.

GI Jane Goes to Iraq and Afghanistan. As she should. If women can do the job, they should be permitted. And in Iraq and Afghanistan, they are. This battle has been won. Four -- Try not to forget I AM in the military. Have been for 4.5 years. I think you might actually have to have some experience in the military to understand the culture I'm talking about. Believe me...from a females perspective (yes, I am in fact a female and in the military) this is an opinion I formed for myself. Please don't insult my intelligence to suggest otherwise.

I'm not saying women can't -- and I never did in my post...I'm saying it's a bad idea because of drama which is going to occur. It always occurs when men and women mix. It happens, it's hormones, it sucks.

Now -- if they were to perhaps come up with an all female battalion of combat arms...I think I could probably live with that...because then the hormones arent involved. But that isnt likely to happen because women simply dont get along with each other well enough for that. I would never want to be a part of such a unit...it makes me shudder with horror.

Women do serve in the military, but they are not in combat arms. For those not of a military mind that reads Infantry, Cavalry, Artillery. The main force of the Army. Females are in what used to be called Service Support and Combat Service Support.

I don't think you quite understand the military culture either. The military isnt like a normal job. You are with these people all the time. You eat with each other, sleep with each other, fight for each other, kill for each other. You can't really comprehend the closeness or family that occurs in units. You do see alot of fraternization in the CSS and SS units, but the reason it is frowned upon but generally tolerated in those is because those folks arent in as dire straits as the CA units. The CA units are more frequently in situations where they are being killed protecting each other or killing for each other. Other types of units it is more or less infrequent.

I thought I should add : I'm not trying to insult anyone...but I do think it's important to actually have some experience with what you're talking about when you make broad generalizations and negative statements regarding an organization...especially one like the military where the culture is so different from that of normal American society.

Some countries males and females are equal in combat without special ameneties/rules and it is required they all serve a term. They also have strict rules and training with consequences to curb those "hormones"

Yup...Israel is a good example of this. They have an Infantry Battalion that is something like 90% female....but otherwise the majority of their women serve in the same type of units that women in the American Military serve.

I would generally like to reiterate that I'm not against a female battalion....I'm just not going to be one of them. Not because I dont think I could...I spent four years hanging with Infantry Types...but because I wouldnt wanna be around that many women. Gives me the heebs.
