The fact that they call them "Labradoodles" makes me very confident that the AKC won't ever accept them. Its such a ludicrous name, and a pointless cross. They aren't hypoallergenic, and you never have a guaranteed 'good temperament' with any breed; there are even "bad" golden retrievers.

Here's my question, whats wrong with Poodles?

I agree. Poodles are great. I even know of someone who has a service dog training center and she says that Standard Poodles are great service dogs. Thats what the "australian labradoodle" was created for, anyways.

I'll be in the minority and say that I actually like the labradoodles I meet most the time. Then again almost all of the ones I know are part of the local guide dog program. They're very wonderful dogs and are multigeneration crosses.

From the guide dog service they said they have a much higher passing rate with the doodles as opposed to the poodles. I can't back that up but I did get curious and ask why they use the crosses. I know many guide dog schools favor golden/labrador crosses too.

Some people have stoped breeding them because of this.
True, but you have rough coats in some breeds and also smooth.

Look at the names like Dandie Dinmont, or PBGV (yes I know it is an abbreviation) As for good temperamnet in dogs did you know that a Fila is the only dog in the ring that can NOT be touched by a judge due to it's temperament?

I think that eventually if the demand is so high that AKC will eventually stick their hands into it to make the $$. JMO.

Though the AKC is into money.. I also don't think that they will become an AKC breed. They don't breed true. Unless 50-100 years down the road, they have become a completly different dog... If you look at the 5th generation "labradoodles" they don't look anything like either breed anymore... More of a Bengi looking mutt, really.
