Yep, thats how I do it. I cant stand the smell of fish, so it gets thawed in a sealed bag, and then tossed outside, and the bag goes in the outside garbage. My gals tend to run around like fools with theirs for a while before settling down and eating it.

When you scale a fish lots and lots of the skin oils come off too, so I'd imagine that takes out a lot of the good oils. And besides, it's messy. I'd just let the dog do it! Lol.

Can any fish be fed? I know salmon and the like can be dangerous, and I don't plan to feed that. But we do a ton of fishing, can you feed brim, bass, etc?

The whole long white hair and fish combo thing just doesn't appeal to me.

isn't raw fish harmful to dogs? i think you're supposed to cook it to avoid food poisoning.

I feed mine sardines once a month ( water based only). For skin and coat like the eggs. Josie does not do well with raw eggs so i give her sardines instead. Everyonce in awhile i'll cook up a salmon or talapia for them.

here is what i found about raw fish

Can result in a thiamine (a B vitamin) deficiency leading to loss of appetite, seizures, and in severe cases, death. More common if raw fish is fed regularly.

I'd be alittle more careful with raw fish. Not taking chances with my pooches.
