I'm new and glad to be here!!!!!
Does anyone know of an effective way to keep flies away from dog food outside? Is there any kind of spray that you put on the food that will repel them? Do the bug zappers and/or fly traps work? Thanks for your help, Harley's Dad |

The best way to get rid of the flies if you have to put the food outside is use some kind of spray or trapper. I do not know any names of that for you but if you look around I'm sure you will find some.

I don't know, my dogs eat their food right up. I feed them twice a day.
When I'm away - I'm lucky enough to have someone come by and feed my pets. Good Luck |

Keep looking in all the dog shops to see if they have anything to control the problem, they should be able to help you. Even looking it up on a search engine ie. Google might work or an online dog shop. Tell me how it goes.

I wouldn't free feed your dog in this case. I certainly would't spray fly repellents, etc on my dogs food! It's not healthy! After feeding your dog remove the bowl when he's finished.

The simplest way is to not feed your dog outside, what you can do is put a mat or piece of old carpet down on the floor and place your dogs food bowl on it. This would stop the mess if any accidents happened as you could just dispose of it and use another. Also if you have to feed him outside make sure you clean the bowl after use and then put it outdoors again, this would probably stop all the chaos caused by the flies.
