Where to keep 9 weeks puppy at night time???

Guys, Help!

I read a few books about raising a puppy, before I brought 9 weeks puppy home.

Still have question in my mind:

Where should I keep her at nighttime?

We all (in order) slept with her in a basement for first 4 nights. She is capable of holding for whole night. There is no pee or poo we can find in a morning. I wake up at 6-30 a.m.

Pick her up, come straight to back yard with her. Put here down, she immediately reliving her self. Come back home. Feed her. Come back to back yard, she will do poo-poo.

It seems to be working fine, just like you want to be.

We want to break the hobbit of sleeping with her at nighttime. At first we want to comfort her. Make her fill welcome in new home. Let her forget her brothers and sisters, she was staying with, after birth. Now we want to come back to our rooms.

I read in few books – please take a crate in your bedroom. I really do not want to hold 9 weeks puppy in close crate for whole night. I have another dog. I never have a thought that my older dog is not happy. She is sleeping along for all her life. We spend as much time together in daytime as we possibly could. I use to have that separation for night. And I want to hear you guys, how it works for you?

Can I leave my puppy in a safe room along for a night?

I put mine in the living room and let her cry. She soon went to sleep. Next cry, I get up and take her outside to pee. Then back in crate. She sleeps till morning and I get up and take her out again. I just eventually decided that it was nice to have her sleep with me. We worked it out. She and my new she, sleep with me. It is best for us, but many dog trainers recommend that you not let the dog sleep with you as they will want to do it all the time. I sure hope so.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help. My dogs sleep with me! I have heard you shouldn't let them, but I just love them so much. They sleep at the foot of my bed.

You could try a crate in the saferoom. Puppies will get bored when alone and you might walk into disaster in the morining if you just leave your pup to roam. (much like a toddler!)

good luck in whatever you decide

I start crate training all my puppies at 6 weeks,so by the time they go home they are use to a crate.
A crate is the best place for your puppy,if you want them in the room with you or not,buy that puppy a crate and you will be glad you did. With a crate you never have to worry about what your puppy could chew up,or get into.
here is 10 reasons why to crate train your dog.

My dogs have the choice...they are both crate trained but at night they can choose the bed or the crate. Roo loves sleeping on the bed since I spoiled him growing up and he slept with me all the time. Angel likes her crate...think it's because at the breeders had a nook she use to sleep in. In the begining she will be in her crate ( which is in my bedroom) then in the middle of the night she hops on the bed. The doors are always open on the crates, but then again they are older dogs.

Dax - not sure if we have something like this on our info list, but if not, this might be good add so we can easily reference it to others.

I train my puppies by the time they are 8 weeks to leave ones that get flighted out, not to Potty train them however. It is to get them used to a crate with no fear of it and being inside, but then I also train them little steps, height, dropping from high to low quickly, many things I prekindergarten train my pups so they are so ready for homes people cannot believe how easy they work into families and Potty train.

I do not crate train my dogs they are house trained ......period in case something happens to me they can be quickly placed into good homes for adoptions. I have four adults in one home way out East Pa. They love how obedient my adults are trained to behave, listen to commands, Potty and obedience.

Crate training is great in case of an accident here, or illness my dogs adapt well to a huge crate I keep on hand, other than that pups are most ready to leave when of age and are trained to go into homes eagerly and lovingly.

Thank you everybody, who responded.
Sorry, I did not understand the answer.
Puppy is crate train by breeder. We leave him in crate on purpose 2 - 3 times a day, when we home just for keeping this hobby. She is sleep during a day in a crate for 1 - 2 hours. I keep my yeas on her, when she gets up I'm taking her outside.
But I think I can't leave her in crate with door close for whole night.
I want to leave her in basement by her self with an open door crate. She is staying with us for her first 5 nights, yet sleeping with one member of the family in the basement.

All mine sleep with me, sometimes they 'slum' it and sleep with my son......
I don't remember the last time I didn't have a dog in bed

As for crating please remove her collar anytime, everytime you put her in the crate!

A nine week old puppy is barely old enough to be away from its mother much less expect any kind of potty training at this young age. If introduced correctly, a crate is the perfect place for a young pup to spend the night. Dogs are den seeking creatures by nature. They like the comfort and security of a den.

Again, it must be introduced properly (pup may cry initially) and not overused. If done right, it is one of the best training tools we've got.

Why is it that you don't want to use a crate at night at least until housebreaking is done?
