I'm trying to teach my puppy to lead and I can not remember if your supposed to lead them from the left or right!!!!!!!!

I'm going to put him in the 4-H dog show's next year but I need to start with him now and I can't remember how they thought my sister to do it.

Left. Heel is a left side command. Reason being in an every day environment, if you are walking on a road, you wallk facing traffic and that puts the you between the traffic and the dog.

But if you are always walking to face traffic, a dog on the left is always farthest away from traffic, no matter what side of the road you drive on. It is about what side of the road the pedestrian walks on.

Yes always on the left.The reason I was told dogs are to be on the left is because when walking into building you open the door with your right and with the dog on the left he is out of the way.
