Unhappy The Limp Uncovered

If anybody knows, Holly had this really bad limp. Here is the thread I started about it: http://www.prodoggroomingsupplies.co...ead.php?t=9232

The vet has come to the conclusion that it is OCD, Osteochondritis Dissecans . http://www.thepetcenter.com/xra/ocd.html

Quote:
Osteochondritis dissecans, commonly known as OCD and osteochondrosis dissecans, is a disease of the cartilage that affects the joints in a dog’s body. In any joint in the body two bones come together and movement is allowed between them. Where the two bones meet, an exceptionally smooth area of cartilage covers their surfaces. This acts as a cushion and protects the underlying bone. If anything disrupts this smooth cartilage surface, movement of the joint becomes painful. In a dog with OCD, this cartilage is damaged or grows abnormally. Instead of being attached to the bone it covers, it separates or cracks, causing great pain. In some cases, small pieces of cartilage break off and float free in the joint. These pieces of cartilage do not die, but rather continue to grow and increase in size. These are known as joint mice. Approximately 15% of all dogs will develop OCD. This article will cover the disease and its treatment and will explore some of the suspected causes.

She is supposed to. My stepdads friend who is vet said that orthopedic (wait it that foot doctor?) surgery should be done. I mean that the surgely will done with only a small incision (minimally invasive). So that should be good and lead to a speedy recovery

Thanks guys

We took her to a dif. specialist a week ago and they said it WASN'T OCD! He said it was arthritis... in my puupy? She is so young though! Thats what my mom said and the doctor sadi it could happen at any age. So now he put her on 2 medication. See how the first one does and if the limp keeps contiuing try the second. So we are on to the second after a few days of the first med not having an affect... it is AMAZING the diffrance!!!! She hardly has any limp! I really hope that this would be the solution to the problem I'll keep everybody updated and maby Holly will be back to her normal self!! YAHHH
