Exclamation rottweiler coats?!

Hello again!

I've been looking up the maintance of rottweiler coats because i have a couple of concerns about my pups coat! If you don't mind answering the following questions, I would really appreciate some insight!

My puppy is a full breed rottweiler, and he just got his first set of vaccination shots.

While at the vet, the nurse told me his coat was kind of dull, but didn't elaborate on it? Now that I look at him, i found a mysterious little patch of hair near his lower back! IS THIS NORMAL???

it's a really small patch and it looks like he has hair growing in the opposite direction (not up like this: "|||" but more like this "=" from left to right?!)

is he shedding? he's about 10 weeks old

i also have another question, for rottweiler owners, or owners with dogs with short hair:

is it possible for dogs to have dandruff?
i think mine does and i don't know what to do to condition it well?
could you recommend some kind of remedy or specific shampoo to get rid of it? Could it be that i'm not bathing him enough?

i'm rather panicky because i've never had anything like this happen to me. Any advice would be great!

Thank you!

Rottweiler fur questions – I can’t vouch for all rotti puppies but this is what I remember from when Ariel was little.

Her puppy fur was duller and fluffier – her coat now is sleek and shiney. So that part sounds normal.

Puppies can suffer from dry skin and also their coat changes with their diet. If you recently switched food, you could be in a transitional phase. If you notice that they are itchy or losing fur in patches, I would have your vet check them again. Not a bad idea at the next set of boosters.

The “cow lick” might not be in a normal place but Ariel has quite a few on her body. It might even just be the way the hair is pushed and a bath (in a month of so) will get rid of it.

Keep feeding the best quality food you can afford and take lots of pictures. (hint hint)

Shedding - Ariel has never stopped shedding from the day we brought her home. Volume seems to be the main difference.

What is your Rottweiler eating? If he is on a poor quality that will make his coat look bad.You get out of your dog what you put in.

I just got a puppy who had dandruff also. I had gradually mixed in his old food with the new but it didn't go away. I gave him a tsp of olive oil 1x per week and it's gone now. congrats on the new rotti! what's his name?

I'm guessing since the breeder let the puppy go at 4 weeks that the breeder is just breeding two dogs, not breeding dogs that they show and has all the health clearences.
With this asumption I guessing they are not breeding dogs that meet the standard so the coat could end up being wavy and that would explain the different direction.
Since he has had such a ruff life already I would wait till his puppy coat falls out to see what you have.
