is it true that you cannot leave a boston terrier alone?
i go to school everyday for about 7 hours, and my parents are not usually home during that time. does that mean i can't get a boston terrier?

hmm i have actually never heard that. Umm.. I've never really looked up on the subject. Most dogs if you put them in a crate thats big enough for them to like lay down with a toy and water but not big enough for them to dirty in then they should be ok .but im not bostin terrier expert!

If nobody will be at home for 7 hours straight, I don't reccomend getting a puppy at all.

Instead get an adult dog from a rescue and invest in a crate. Or invest in a crate and come home at lunch to give the dog a break.

Our neighbor has one and she leaves it alone when she goes to work. She crates her, but does come home at lunch to let her out to stretch and potty. Then she crates her for the afternoon.

However, a young puppy will need to go potty every 1-2 hours at first for sure. Slowly you can expand the time over a few months. If you can't be home to let it out or have someone who can, then potty training can be VERY frustrating!

You could use the puppy pads, but ONLY if you've made the decision not to housebreak your dog outdoors and plan to continue to use the pads. It's very confusing to a puppy to try and do both - use the pads when you're not there but then be also trained to go outside.

If you can't let the puppy out as mentioned above, you might want to consider getting a young adult who's already housebroken - maybe from a Boston Terrier rescue group.

Hope this helps.

7 hours seems a long time to be away from any puppy.

a quick search on petfinder.com had a bunch of Boston Terriers - both young adults and adult dogs.

i agree with everyone else - it'll be much better for the dog and your family to get an older dog.
