Question Healthy Chew Bones

My puppy is 5 months of age and he's entering the teething stage. Recently, he started chewing on furniture and cushions (which we strongly discouraged) so I bought him a puppy Nylabone. The problem with that was he chewed right through it and I got slightly concerned because it says on the package that pieces larger than a grain of rice might be hazardous (I don't know what size pieces he ingested). I was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations as to other chew bones that are healthy (my puppy is slightly overweight) and ingestible? I'm also considering raw bones too....I remember my breeder mentioning it when we bought Jackjack.

yep go for raw bones, get a kong too they are great, bully sticks and tripe are also good, but if he is fat then stick to raw bones

What type of raw bones is appropriate for a puppy? I heard that certain types of raw bones aren't suitable because they splinter off too easily?

For raw - go for knuckle or marrow bones. I know Dax has the marrow bones split so they can get to the marrow fairly quickly so it won't rot. Talk to your butcher.

Just make sure that they dont have them for more than a week, because when the meat has gone the bone will start to wear down the teeth

Yes, my dog got a slab fracture from a cow hoove. The vet said they were too hard.

I thing the greenies are awesome...they help with bad breath and digestion and they are healthy...the downside is they don't last very long and are on the expensive side. But we call them crack for Chopper because they are his favorite and he goes crazy for them
