It might be too much excitement. The water is more important than the food. Try offering it in your hand a few drops at a time or take a syringe and spray in the mouth a little. Put the water & food down (try adding some grated cheese or a few weiner pieces to the food0 and leave the dog in peace. Try to keep things calm and quiet. Let dog come to you for attention.

The danger is dehyrdration more than starvation. Don't let it continue more than another day without going to a vet.

Sounds like he is just having a hard time adjusting. I wouldn't worry about it too much, but you might want to try to get him to drink a little. Try putting a couple of drops on his nose and see if he will lick it off and that might stimulate him to drink a little.

sounds lie the adjusting periode. try giving your new dog either some canned food ( helps stimulate the appitite) and also some pedialight. this will help with any dehidration. Also, you could if you wanted to make some BOILED CHICKEN and WHITE RICE ( ONLY THOSE 2 ). this might help get him to start eating. If he doesn't eat i by day 2 go to the vet.
