Wink pug loves to get dirty...but when it comes to shower....whole other story!!!

when i shower my 6 month old pug i put a piece clothing underneath him as not to make it slippery then i pill a bucket with water and have way tinier container to pour the water on him. i place him on the clothing piece and carefully pour the water on him.

the thing is he gets scare...really scared he wont even stay down he puts his paws on my legs (i set down when i shower him) which makes it a little bit challenging but managable...however he wines a lot gets me alllll wet and tries to get out from underneath between my legs or climb over and i can tell he gets really really scared.

i thought it would go away with time but so far i give him bath weekly since he gets dirty a llllot, im as gently and firm (together) as i can so i make it relaxing for him yet managable for me...sometimes i succseed at neither....i think i need advice from you guys...so what d u say

I hope your using dog shapoo or baby shampoo would work too, and nt just the normal stuff, since you are giving her a bath so much. Bc giving baths that frequetly can really dry out the dogs skin and make them itchy. Also if it is scaring her that much maybe you should try a diffrent way. Like piking her up and holding her to get her wet and rinsing her off, or in a normal bath tub, or sink if she's small? I think i would e scared too if some one took a bucket and dumped a whole bunch of water on me at once. or another thing you could try is using a cup insted of a bucket?

Yes I agree with Chopper, if you bathe her to often you may dry out her skin. And a weeks time doesnt give the hair time to regain its natural oils. Ya you should try a different method of bathing her ,dumping a bucket of water on her I def. woudldnt encourage.

Bath her in the sink, and no more than once a month unless absolutely necessary. With her long hair (since she's not actually a pug, just a small dog), you might try brushing her instead. Try to keep her out of the mud, and if she gets muddy, let her dry and then brush the dirt out of her hair.

LOL. I was going to say... You could probably just wipe a pug down with a cloth, but it's all coming back now. lmao.

Yeah, I agree with Lessica. I don't always need to give my dog a full fledged bath when he gets dirty. In the summer, he swam in the pond and got muddy EVERY DAY. But bathing that often would be terribly bad for his skin. So I would just pour some clear water over him, leave him outside until he dries, then sit and comb out all of the dead hair and dirt. That does a pretty good job, and he's white so you would notice the residual dirt.

the other thing that you can sue if your dog gets really dirty is use a gentle baby cloth, or a dog washing cloth ( you can find them at petsmart), this may help to get residual dirt off but keep her coat healthy.

If you regular brush him than you shouldn't have to bath him as much
