A pin brush looks like what I use on my own head.

I have one for my Kirby too, but I only use it to help dry.

Boy I gotta feed pups and get to bed

I use that type of brush to smooth down the coat after I have used a German rake against the hair growth to remove the dead under coat. Then I use this one to smooth back down the hair.

Good for that otherwise I do not bath my Shepherds so I have a few of these and I use them smoothly to make the coat lay down and flatten it.

When you get your pin brush make sure it doesn't have those little balls on the ends of the pins. They can come off and then the pin will scratch and irritate the dog's skin.
