Question

My dog does not want to eat dry food for some reason and I've tried numerous brands to see if she liked one of them better. She just won't eat any unless she's starving. I don't know what to do. She'll eat the canned moist food with no problem but those are pretty expensive.

I try mixing a little bit of wet food in with the dry. We had the same problem with one of our dogs - and this seems to work pretty good for him.

If you pick a good quality food and hold out on her with treats and canned food, she'll start eating. She's just discovered that if she doesn't eat, you'll give her something tastier.

Our dog had the same problem. No matter how many foods we tried, she'd eat it for a day, maybe, and then stop. We found that putting a little water in it and then a tablespoon of Heinz turkey gravy worked. She eats it everyday. Sometimes we mix a tiny bit of tuna or chicken broth in her food instead of the gravy, just for a change of pace for her. She eats Wellness.

Have you examined the dogs teeth and gums? I had a dog that refused to eat dry and she had a abcess tooth.

Our chihuahua had the same problem until we figured out that the pieces of dry food were too big and difficult for her to crunch up. We had to start buying expensive food in little tiny pieces.

Hi!

We put about a teaspoon of Olive Oil in our Sheltie's dry food - she's got to where that is one of her favorite times of the day - watching us mix up the oil & dry food.

Good Luck!
