Ear Plucking

Does anyone have a secret to making ear plucking easier?
I pluck all 4, that's 8 furry ears and I hate it more than they do!
I always feel like a big meany!

thanks!

One vet book I have says plucking can increase certain secretions which cause ear infections. It recommends simply clipping the hairs with scissors.

Wink

And they say ear cropping is bad.... LOL!!!!!! LMAO!

Sorry Whiz had to !!!!

No idea I wouldn't even want to try. You could use clippers and try clipping instead, would be easier. Maybe ???

I would feel much better clipping than plucking!!
Tomorrow is bath day AKA SPA DAY.
We'll see how it goes
Hopefully I will locate the USB cable so I can post some pics-Joe is HUGE!

I use a tiny bit of baby powder to make it easier to grasp then pull it out gently and clean the area with a cotton ball. But normally my groomer just does it for me though. Lilly has never had an ear infection so far but I always feel mean plucking her ears!

If you're using your fingers, powder will help get a firmer grip. If you use hemostats however you will get a better grip and be able to pull more hair at one time (quicker). Personally I would'nt recommend clippers, too easy to injure tender tissue aruond and inside the ear.

I use rounded hemostats and I go real slow. If you clip the very tender skin inside the ear, it will be much harder the next time. To avoid any irritation or inflamation, I squeeze a couple of drops of Synotic in each ear after I'm done. This is what an ear specialist recommended (animal specialist). Synotic is a prescription.
