Who here has collies?

I was just wondering how many people here are collie owners. Out of the breeds I have owned so far I think their the best!

There are a few here... 3 active members with collies that I can think of... I'm not one of them.

Collies are the best, you got that right! I have a rough, blue merle female myself, but my family altogether has 14 rough and smooths.

Thanks, Kota looks so cute!! I love my blues! I also have a sister to her that looks nearly identical but is 4 years older. She is a breeder at my stepmoms kennels, but the three of them could pass as triplets, lol.

You know my mother owns Kota's sister and she is so different. It's really quite odd. Kota is of course long coat with the white factor in her hair. But Kayla's is short and she doesn't have a white undercoat. They came out of the same litter so you think they would look almost the same. Kayla is also taller but Kota is wider.

lol, well having been through countless collie litters, No, they never look the same. That is why it's weird for Faith and Star. You see, sorry if I bore you with collie breeding facts, the smooth gene is actually the dominant gene. Also, If you breed a white factored dog with another white factored dog most, usually all, the pups will be white factored and a few will be whites. If you breed a white factored with a non factored, then some will be and some won't be. It's actually pretty amazing when you learn it all. Want a Want a white factored tricolor male: well, I can breed your perfect dog, except the male part. And of course, genetics aren't that easy, but it can be easier once you learn it all.

Yeh I did some research on the genes. All I know is that you can't breed two merles together and get healthy pups. But I'm not a breeder and don't plan on being a breeder. So that was the extent of my research.
