Crossbreeds (not another BAD thread)

First Off- I have stated my opinion on this subject before. I am agaisnt the breeding of mixed dogs, but I still love all dogs whether they are crossbreeds or not. That said, I am looking for a breed for my mother, who wants a low shed, small, companion dog. She is a fan of cockers, but wants a non shedding dog. I know there are crossbreed people here, and I am thinking about looking into RESCUING a cockapoo for her. She wants this dog so much, but she keeps saying, oh, we don't need another dog yet... So I want to figure out when I am leaving, then look into getting the dog about 2 months before that so I can train it. Any thoughts, comments, ideas, threats (j/k hopefully)

It may shed a little, however cocker spainels and poodles are both good tempered dogs, and you are rescuing it, so just meet the individual dog, chances are it was a pet store pup though, so make sure he's friendly!

I agree about Shihtzu's. Or a combination breed my new name for my doggies.
Combos! Whether you rescue or buy a pup, I think it is VERY SWEET of you to think of your mom. As a mom, I love the thoughtfulness!
Good Luck you sweet kiddo and let your mom know- she did a great job raising you!

Hehe, a combo dog. That is cute. My mom is not a shih tzu fan at all. Doesn't like the way they look, but she likes cockers. I just think that a cocker is too much for her. She has had poodles before, so I think she'd like that.

*Thanks, Whimz, I think if I told her, she'd think I was being conceded...lol.

Why not just research all 3 -poodle,cocker, cockapoo rescues and see what's available? You never know what is going to be there. The best dog I ever had was rescued, I had her 14 yrs. I really miss her. Good luck with your search.

look up toy poodles. I used to have one and they are small, don't shed or smell, are easy to train and housetrain, and they are extremely loyal and devoted to their people. At least, Angie was.

I know I'm partial, because I have Poodles, but I think they're the best dogs! Smart as whips, so loyal, cuddly, train well, soft, don't shed, don't smell. They're just about the perfect dog in my eyes.

Yes, they can be yippy, but it's all in how you train them.
