Question skiddish Min Pin?

Min Pins are "not suppose to be a skiddish dog", but I have recently acquired a female (full-blooded) min pin that keeps her little nub of a tail hide most all the time. I bought her from a lady that was just using her as "breeding stock". She is 4 yrs. old and really has a sweet personality. (She's just too shy). Does any one have any suggestions on helping her to become more sure of herself?

just curious-was she bred before?....anyways I would start bringing her everywhere with you and start exposing her to everything, walmart, petsmart, kids other dogs, small critters etc. and reassure her, but first I would make sure that she is throughly bonded with you.

She has been breed before: 1st-2 puppies; 2ond-3 puppies. I've had her for 3 months now. I think that she is bonded to me, because she always wants in my lap and if I go in my room and shut the door and she's on the other side, she will scratch at the door until I let her in. But, when you call her or go to pick her up- she'll crouch down and tuck that nub under-just acts like your going to hit her or something. I don't think for one second that the lady that had her before me abused her in any way, she probably didn't get very much human interaction. I will try your suggestion "riding hulio" thanks!

Your welcome! I had a dog that used to cower all the time, and I don believe he was abused. You say she has had two litters, why did the lady sell her(give her away?).......

This lady actually was breeding several different breeds. She told me that she was trying to sell all her dogs except the basset hounds. That was the story she gave me anyways. Sometimes you just don't know what people's real reason for doing things are, you just have to take their word. P.S.- How's the weather in Canada?- just curious.

I agree with Riding Hulio and would bonded with her first and then expose her to everything and get her use to people and other animals and help her build up her confidence.

I really have no intention on having Tootsie spayed. I know alot of people are into doing that, but I'm not. (not trying to sound ugly).

My dogs are usually really friendly around people, But Buck used to be scared of other dogs. Try taking her to thte park and get her used to all different kinds of things and people. And other dogs. The more Buck was around them, the better he got. Now, he loves them.
