Question Calming a Dog during bath time.

Everytime I try to bathe Sidnie, she freaks.
Im really careful with her, I go slow (because of it), make sure the water doesnt spray her to hard or soap doesnt get in her eyes. But she freaks and yowls like a cat, literally. Shes on the verge of talking, I swear. Usually it ends up with her on my back from me bending near her, comforting her. And I mean she really does get on my back, yowling. (Piggy back ride lol) And I have to sit on the ground and she curls in my lap and I hold her trying to rinse her off, to get all the soap out.

She needs a bath, her white is a little muddy cause we found this big mud hole in the backyard lol... and plus I would like to give her a good scrub before winter. I also bought this expensive vanilla scent oatmeal shampoo I want to use on her.

Why do you think she behaves this way and how can I survive the bathing process stress free especially for Sidnie.

Did you ave her from a pup? Have you tried just useing a wet cloth on her first untill she gets used to it, and also giving her a treat to help make it a good experence ?

Actually I got her when she was 5 months old from the breeder. They were planning on keeping her since she was the perfect cross between their male and female.
So she was pretty much set in her ways at 5 months of age.
I could try the wet cloth although she would probably...no I change that, she would take it and run. lol
Treats are a good idea also.

She's a Husky, it's very natural of her to fear water. If they get wet in the cold weather they're usually from, they freeze to death. That's why some of them run nonstop after a bath, to quicikly dry off and keepn themselves moving before they freeze to death (though we know they won't). That's why Sid freaks ^^

The problem Is you dont know what has happened to her before, but I would try the treats and try to convince her that bathing is a good thing she gets food lol, good luck i hope someone else has some good ideas

All the bad things about Sidnie, are her Breed Characteristics!! lmao
Oh well Ive grown to love them. Atleast I understand why she does it, poor girl. Very interesting to Nightrise.

Over time she'll learn to adapt a little bit too. I don't bathe Kiev much, she doesn't need it much but now she sits somewhat still... no more jumping and yowling at least. Just give it time, it's hard for a Husky to change into loving water but some actually do. SOME... ^^

mosaicsibe is on a distinguished road
My siberian husky alse loaths the water, even when were at the lake she'll only ever go in up to her knees.. I haven't met one siberian husky, alaskan husky, malamute, or well.. pretty much any nothern breed that enjoyed getting a bath..
Bathing my sibe is a chore, I usually get more wet then she does hehe..
Going slow usually just aggravates the situation more (for my sibe anyways).
I try bathing as quick as possible.. Tikeya (my husky) she screams, howls, yodels and makes such a big fuss that It's almost funny.. I have to bathe her after hours at my work, because I'm sure customers would be very frightened to hear the sounds that she makes hehe.
