Too Old?

My baby's name is Scruffy Sam and she is 12 years old. When I was out of town a while of go, she accidently got out with a male dog and was bred. My family and I had been watching closley to make sure this would not happen because she is not very young we thought that her getting pregnant would not be good for her. So when it happened I was a little freaked out but she never showed any signs so I just figured she was ok. Isn't she too old to get pregnant? Anyway, she is now showing signs. She's not real big but she has milk. No other signs, could she be having a false pregnancy? What do I do?

As far as I know, its deffinatley possible... I saw an episode of Animal Cops that had a 14 year old pregnant pit bull... I believe she died though. Take the dog to a vet. Thats all I can say. Im not a vet, different dogs handle health issues differently. Thus the reason I spay and neuter!!!!!

I'd have her into the vets ASAP.
She could be having a false pregnancy, milk production can and does
take place with a flase. Then again, with her age she may have a pup or 2
in there...she wouldn't be real big. Vet is your best bet now
Good Luck and please keep us posted on your girl!

Yes I agree with Kendra, take her to the vet as soon as you can.
Good luck!

I'm not a breeder but it seems like that would be a real strain on a 12 year old dog. I whole heartedly agree - vet ASAP!

Is there a reason you never had her spayed?

Again take her to the vet, 12 year old dogs are geriatric any thing could really put a strain on old organs kidnys, liver heart. The vet will be able to give the best advice.

Oh why wasnt she spayed, yes she can get pregnant at 12 but it will most likely kill her, or you will have major problems. Take her to the vet now!!

Thanks

THanks for replying. I'm taking her to the vet tomarrow, as soon as they open. I can't loose her. I just can't. She's my best friend. She and Maisie are my only friends so I'm really worried.
