Heating Pad Or Heating bed?

Hey guys,
I was just wondering if you can answer a question for me? After the puppies are born does it matter if you use a heating bed or a heating pad for the pups to keep warm? I am asking because when I got the delivery yesterday from Petco, I opened the box it was a Heating bed inside not a heating pad for the pups. If it is ok to use the bed then I will just keep that but if not Please tell me ASAP!! Thanks Guys you Are all the BEST!

I would be highly careful in leaving tiny born puppies with any heating device to lay on. I only use Heat bulbs, pipes extended down from gas furnace, small cermic heaters if tips over they shut off. I set them up on the pig rails ledges also so they cannot get near them to touch.

I would never trust any wire around my puppies. Get a red heat bulb and place over them for extra heat. It should be ninety degrees for new born pups first week, second week mid eighties, etc. Heat is so essential for new borns. Any draft can cause hyperthermia and kills more pups than any other thing. New pups cannot generate any heat for at least two weeks themselves.

I use the Snuggle safe disc. It is great filled with a gel that stays warmm for 8-12 hours. You heat it in the microwave 6 minutes adn it good to go. I've never had a heating bed how will you keep the pups from the cord?

I have never used or seen a heating bed, what are they like? When you heat an area for the puppys they and mum must be able to get away from it

This is driving me Crazy. I am not sure what to use and I need to get it soon. If I used a heating pad for pups that they sell at petco I would drill a hole thru the wood for the cord so the pups can not even see it or get to it! Does that sound safe? And I see a heating Lamp has a stand you sit it on and it would be on the outside of the whelping box! Anybody have any sites I can look at to see which is best to use?

I don't have a site but my breeder said NO heating pads!
A friend of hers, 'back in the day', lost her house, dogs, pups EVERYTHING
due to a heating pad keeping the pups warm. She said it's ok to place
them in a basket with the pad while mom is finishing whelping BUT that's it!!!
I'd go with the lamps
