Dry Nose

What is the norm for a pooches nose?
My 2 shih-tzu's noses are usually moist but my new pug I have noticed has an incredibly dry nose with a crust on the top of it, the crusty part is not flaking off or anything, it just seems that it is way to dry. Is there something I could put on it like vaseline? Any help would be great!

Yes you could use a little Vaseline, just be careful, that he doesn't ingest too much, do you have a pic of his nose

Well, when we first brought him home I noticed it right away, so it was like that when we got him, as for diet change yes it has changed (for the better), But my main question is : Is a dogs nose supposed to be wet? Dry? Moist?

it can depend on the breed, some breeds only have slightly moist noese while others have wet ones

ok, they say that a dogs nose should be wet. They say Dry nose, sick dog. But I for one know that that isn't always true. Our dogs vary, King OFTEN has wet nose, where the chihuahua's rarely do. You may want to put a tsp - tbsp of OMEGA oil in their food if you find their skin is drying out as well. How much water is he drinking? Moniter the fliud intake to make shure he is getting enough. If he is showing no other visible sign that seem to be obnormal that you may have to be concerned. Temperature? Fliud intake?Eating? Feces? Attitude? Energy level? Check these things to see if they are normal to his usual self.

Ok doglovin, I doin't know his exact water intake but he does seem to drink regularly, and it is always fresh and clean., he does have dry skin, and I am switching his feed, and I will be giving him some codliver oil, (either capsules or the liquid) His bowel movments seem to be fine as well as his energy. I guess I should attribute this with his dry and itchy skin he has. (poor guy) Thanks for the advice!!

Vaseline is a natural laxative. Be careful in the amount that you reapply if it gets licked off.
