***Please Advise on Dog Chow***

I feed Nutro small chunks to my dogs, it is roughly $21.00 a bag/I think 20lbs. Now for the people who actually "know" about dog chow, like the ingredients and the different brands of food out there can you please give me advice on wether this dog food is any good? I have been feeding it for almost five years now, my dogs have great healthy coats, skin, clear eyes, normal bowel movements etc.....Is there anything AT ALL wrong with this product?? Unhealthy, excessive by-products, meals etc?? I would look a the bag, but I just dump all the food in an airtight container and burn the bag......so please I would really appreciate some advice, this brand was recommended by the breeder I got my first dog from.
Thanks

is it a flavor - lamb & rice - or an adult maintenance?

It is listed as a premium food, so it is a good one.

I am now using frozen Bil Jac and Flint River and Chicken Soup by the Diamond company. It is the best I can find in our small area, but I send for Flint River for some. Top foods are as I remember from posting on my site: Innova, Solid Gold, Canadie, Eagle Pack, Wysong, Strive, Wellness, etc.

Making sure your first at least two ingredients are Meat product, or like third chicken meal. Learn to read the small print of fillers and know what they are.

Nutro is one of the better commercial foods out there.

As long as the ingredient lists NO Meat by-products, Animal Fats, Tallow... things that you can identify, you should be OK. If you don't know what it is you rpobably don't want to know. Can be truely scary.

Thanks Dobie, I have read that article, what I don't understand is, if there are all these cats and dogs being churned into dog and cat food, why isn't it listed? they list lamb, beef chicken...etc..
Personnally I know I wouldn't buy dog food if the label said: "Feline & Canine by-product".....

The problem with that is it has a very low meat content, from what I know meat meal is better then meat its still the same meat but the water content has been removed so you get more meat, i would say this is a adverage food, it its all that is avaiolable to you and you dog does ok on it then no probs, but if a higher quality food is available then i would feed that

MEAL isn't necessarily a bad thing - it just means that the moisture had been taken out before processing. usually this means that there is more protein in the food.
