Tick!! Aggghhh!! Help!

Yes, yes, yes, I'm sure there have been 1,000,000 threads on this topic! Sorry!

We found a tick on Bone's HEAD! right on the top! probably from him thrusting his nose into the bushes all the time!

we couldn't keep him still enough to get it off!!!! he kept moving his head and squirming ugh! hubby had to lay on him and hold his head down - it was CRAZY!

Anyway, i finally rubbed it good with peroxide and then grabbed it with the tweezers and twisted it out - but he was fighting us so hard that i didn't get good leverage...after about 1/2 hour of this i THINK i got it and rubbed it down again, but i'm really not sure.

there appears to still be a little bump - and i am concerned maybe i didn't get the head and i have heard of infection...thoughts?

I hate ticks! Ewwww.

We don't have them right now, it's too cold but we usually get them from June to July when it starts to gets hot.

Don't worry to much about the bump on his head just keep an eye on it. If it gets warm to the touch and seems sore then you may have to go to the vet but those bumps usually go away after a week or so.

you have to make sure that you got the head, that is very important. If there is no swelling, no brn or black in the wound you probably got it. but if you see swelling, and funky unnatural colors in the wound hole there is probably something still in there.

The bump could just be a reaction to the tick bite, it happens often to the dogs I have seen. Also rumor has it if you put some vasaline on it and the head is still in there it will die. Don't know how true it is just a rumor I ahve heard
