Exclamation Excesive eye discharge

As we all know, dogs can get "eye boogers" around their tear ducts.
But the last two days Dakota has had a HUGE ammount of discharge from her tear ducts in the form of a sticky cream colored pus. And it comes fast. I wipe her eyes clean and 10 or 15 minutes later it looks like I never touched her!

What is causing this and what is it a sign of?? I have a vet living next door, but she hasn't been available. I'm starting to worry about my pooch!

Well, it could be some kind of eye infection. Did she get into anything recently.

Even though I hate to say this and am sure it's not your problem, I must. Eye Discharge that is oozey, white or greenish, and creamy is often a signal for demodex. I doubt that has anything to do with it, but it's better to mention it just in case, that way you can look for it if it's not an infection. It doesn't happen in all demodectic dogs, but Tess had it bad. Another dog we saw, Benton, had it as well.

Poppy had this about a month ago - I'd wipe it and it would come back just as fast. I took her to the vets, it turned out to be conjunctivitis (a mild eye infection). Get your dog to the vet, if you don't they could have more problems.

faith had eye goobers like that a month ago. they gave us a gel to put in her eyes twice a day. cleared it all up pretty quickly, but they said to use it on her for a week so we did. hopefully it's something simple for you too.

Thanks everybody. I finally managed to get ahold of Kasey nextdoor. It was infact a case of conjunctivitis. She gave me an anti-biotic ointment to use and it cleared up within a couple days.

Glad you got your baby sorted - it did sound like conjunctivitis!

Hefner413 is on a distinguished road
My dachshund had a couple episodes like this also. The warm wet washcloth with tearless baby soap application to the tear ducts cleared it up pretty quickly. I did this daily multiple times. It was also conjunctivitis, and I never had to use antibiotics.
