Breeding

Okay, so my Aunt breeds Jack Russells, and I usually get my information from her. But anyway, my dogs in full heat and she flashes, and lets the male mount her. But...everytime he starts to mate her, she yelps really loud like she's in pain. Do female dogs always react this way?

She may not be quite ready, when she is fully ready she will stand for him, she may yelp or cry a little.

Not really if they are flagin and ready fully. I one time had to have my vet open my female, she was almost a non breeder, fixed her and she is in an adoption home. If she is truly day on, she should stand, u will need to help some also. Virgin girls sometimes are very hard to breed and each day goes on and is a count. I breed deep into the cycle about 14 and 16th days. I feel I get more uniformed litters with more folicles dropping, too early I do not like to breed, tried all ways and this is what works for me.

It does take a good male persistant in doing his job than fooling about. Gino is quick, does not make a girl stand and fool around, he gets done, but long ties. Keep trying and help him steady also. Put your knee under her or somebody to help him out. If u need further help, pm me.

Yea, I figured we would have to hold her. Is it possible she might try to bite me or anything? Tomorrow will be her 12 day in heat, and I'm gonna try to help then. I tried today, and whenever I hold her, Max doesn't try...but the second I let go...hes all over her. I don't think he likes me interfering....

She needs to be held encase she trys to pull away from him when in a tie she could do him some damage

What if they don't tie very long? Will that effect her getting pregnant?

It is normal for them at first, I've heard it is pretty common but never personally had experience with it happening.

You do need to hold them though, if she struggles the male could be hurt.

How long are you talking? I don't think it really makes a difference, they can become pregnant with a short tie but it is obviously better for them to have a longer one, if you want her to take.

it really depends on the male, but usually a tie wether short or long means a pregnancy if its at the right time in the cycle
