Why are they allowed to use artificial stuff to groom show dogs?

I just can't believe how much junk is used to groom a dog for show. Do Aussies really need mousse to have a beautiful coat, insert any breed here. Isn't that false advertising? I know some judges don't like it, but most let it go. Some breeds will never look like that without rigorous grooming everyday. And most people are looking at them and not knowing that they don't always look that way. I heard of someone getting rid of a cocker because it had curly hair on it's head, well show dogs are clipped.
What do you think?

I know that there isnt suposed to be any thing left in the coat, most judges would disqualify the dog

Maybe in UK, but I just went to the Nationals just to watch and was disgusted by the hairspray and products that are used. I know it is to make your dog stand out but how much is too much. I have pugs and thank the lord they are wash and go dogs. No real need to tart them up.

I had no idea that this was even a concern in the show circuit! What kinda of things exactly do the people use that shouldn't be allowed?

In UKC a dogs is excused if it has anything on it's coat.In AKC all is fair.Try going thru a Shelti coat with all that hair spray on it.
