No such thing as Tea Cups?!?!
I just got a message saying to me that their is NO such thing as Tea Cups ( as a type of breed) that it is just a myth. I don'y belive this, b/c my Redd ( the Tea Cup Poodle ) is AKC registered as a Tea Cup. Now the thing is that if their was no such thing than why is it a breed you can choose, and or register under?
I have provided the link that i was sent, but what do you guys think? http://www.tazchi.com/pages/tea_cup.htm |

There is no such thing as a teacup Poodle. AKC only recognizes Toys, Miniatures and Standards. A teacup is simply a tiny toy. Teacup is just a cute marketing name like "pocket" Poodle. I have a "teacup" and he is registered as a toy.

It the dog is AKC registered it is not a tea cup.It is just something someone made up to get more money for the puppies.

There are teacup poodles, but they are just a name it doesn't mean anything. It is still a toy poodle, just a really small toy poodle. Also, there are no teacup Chihuahuas or teacup yorkies, etc. It's just a name and it just means that the animals are really small. Smaller doesn't necessarily mean better. Many responsible breeders won't sell the extra tiny dogs. They are more fragile and breakable. When Rusty was about 6 lbs he jumped off of a chair about knee high and broke his leg badly. I can't imagine what would happen with a dog even smaller than that.

People use Teacups to get more money. "Teacups" usually just happen to start out smaller than the other puppies in the litter.
