Ok most dogs shed all year, but many shed expecially in the fall and spring. In the winter when its cold dogs shed their summer coats and get their thicker winter fur to keep them warm. In the summer when it's hot they don't need all that thick hair so they get a thinner cooler coat. If your dogs aren't out much or the temp doesn't change much in your area they may not even have shedding seasons. It's also when they shed all of their dead hair, which they do year round but especially during these times.

Some breeds shed in the spring, when loosing their winter coats. Koni sheds all year round.

most animals shed once when the winter months draw near, and once when the summer months draw near. To get rid of any undercoat they may have that isn't suitable for the weather outside. Some dogs as Koni said shed all year. depends on the breed and where you live =)

Well I know my two "non-shedding" ~rolls eyes~ shih-tzu's shed little amount all year long, but very minimal, and this pug is just shed crazy!!!!

Mine are confused dogs. Ollie doesn't shed.. cause he still has no under coat. Louise grew this funky wooly coat, that makes her look fat.. and now she is shedding like crazy! Does she know winter hasn't even truly begun.. and she still needs that thick wool? Although.. at the same time, she needs to get rid of it.. it makes her look so funny.

Indoors dog shed year round. Not like dogs kept outdoors, shed spring n late summer or fall.

Take a good grooming tool like a matter and brush against the growth to bring the dead hair to the top, then take a slicker brush and lay the coat down normal. Do this daily and see if it helps, I know it will, but see how much you must do to stop shedding. Also, at www.springtimeinc.com get Fresh Factors for less shedding and good skin. I do NOT sell the products I use them, so I recommend them only. Good luck.

I think I brushed a Kirby dog off Denali!!! I hadn't brushed her REALLY good in a couple of weeks, so we spent an hour and a half primping her and really getting the loose hair out.
