Teething?

Today when I was playing tug of war with Penny, I saw blood on the toy and remembered somebody (not this forum....at least I don't think so) saying that that is a sign of teething. I haven't noticed any teeth coming out yet, but haven't deliberately stuck my hand in the lion's mouth either. I know that they can swallow the teeth so you wouldn't even realize they are losing their teeth. My question is, should I change Penny to wet food or wait until I think she is having difficulty eating? I honestly don't know. Penny hasn't been eating really well and I hadn't thought it was because her teeth were hurting her. What say you? Should I switch to wet food for a while? Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

I've never switched my dog's food due to teeth. Chewing feels good on teething gums.

If you look in her mouth, do you see enpty spaces? The teeth generally grow back pretty fast.

I wouldn't switch to wet food... Wet food is bad for teeth, and you may not be able to switch back afterwards. Maybe she just going through a phase, try adding some warm water to her meals to bring out the smell.

She is loosing her milk teeth. You mostly will not find the tooth and sometimes they drop in your lap.? She will be fine, let her chew on things, it will be good for her as Moo said. Some blood will be seen, do not get alarmed, it takes quite a bit to get the big k-9 teeth in.

Yep, keep her on dry food. It acts as a teething device during this stage. Kong toys are also great for this stage.

also for teething, i found if you take a cloth ( like a face cloth) or somthing u don't care about anymore, soak it in water and then freeze it this helps sooth the gums when they are teething =) they are so much like children... LOL.. cept they don't borow money or drive =)
