New Dog Brush?

Louise's coat is getting out of control. Her undercoat is like a flippin' Bears! I swear. It's got those thick cordy type sections and she's been shedding like crazy. I tried to brush her, but her hair is so thick.. I kept brushing the top and not getting to the stuff that needed it. When I tried brushing backwards to get to it.. she gets angry! Growls and bites at the brush (not me though, which is good). I have one of those static-ky brushes, and I think it hurts her. Anyone know of a brush that does good damage, but doesn't bug the dog? Even Ollie bites at this brush. And he means business.. he hates the thing. It looks like this:

The rake type ones, I don't think will do anything but work on the outside layer of fur. I need something that will get to it all! I'm leaning towards sending her to the groomers.. let them deal with it. Then I second guess that, cause she'd freak if I left her in a kennel, with strangers, to bathe her (something she HATES).

Any suggestions?

I call that brush you have shown a slicker.. I would try a shedding blade or maybe a pin brush

separate the hair so that you can see the skin (or if it's too thick for that get as close as you can) and brush out the section where you parted it so you can get to the inside. It may take a long time, but you will get alot of hair and I bet it'll help alot

Oh and we just use a regular pincushion brush. It works well and the dogs don't mind it.

what about a metal comb? I use that on my poodle, and it may take a little longer but it gets to the skin and takes out the under coat also.. plus it doesn't hurt them like a stickler brush can..

I originally groomed Koni with that brush, but he hated it. Now I use a shedding blade and it does not bother him at all.

Shedding blade should work fine. You could also try a shedding rake, double toothed comb.

Sooo that's why Penny is always biting at the brush. I thought it was to play with it and it actually may bother her? Guess I better get another brush too.

Our groomer recomends a metal comb for our thick coated pup. It can get right to the skin and doesn't bother her like a brush does.
