Docking puppys

Why is it so hard to have your puppy tails docked here, vets wont do it and its not something i would like to do my self, but our next litter i am considering having them docked, but how do i go about finding someone to do this, pref a vet! I have nearly two years so no rush lol

http://www.skylocke.com/tailbanding.html
Here is a site on how to band them insted of docking them i think it looks much cleaner than a docked one.

I think i prefer docking as it is quicker, and I have naver seen this method used, pluss this is just one breeders take on docking, they also say that and cosmetic changes can be done at cropping in the vets, to me this means it isnt a good method

I know I breeder that Breeds Dobies and he Docks them himself. But I can never do that! In England are you allowed to do that to the dog just like the ears being cropped?

Not 100% sure what you mean, but ear cropping is banned here dogs that have had this done cant be shown, as for docking breeders are alolowed to do it, but I dont feel happy doing it

I would talk to other Jack breeders or other Dockie breeds (Rotties/Dobies/Boxer, ect.) and see where they have it done. You breed, so I assume you show or go to terrier trials or something, so you must meet other breeders. I know how it is though, most breeders do all of the crops/docks themselves now b/c so many vets won't do it, which I think is silly... a Rottie just isn't a Rottie with a funny long tail!

Umm.. yeah i dont think I would wanna do that myself either. Umm if you do get a vet to do it make sure it is one you can trust because I dont know if this applies to your breed but in ours the tail is supposed to "balance" the dog and our pups got them cut 2 days old and not 3 and they were cut too short thinking they would grow but for soem reason they didnt grow that much soo yes if ya didnt know im pretty sure tis 3 days old when you should have it done and I wouldnt do it even a day earlier because then the tails liek dont grow.

Joe's tail is docked, little nub lol. His tip is almost hairless. I think it was done wrong. Just be careful Some small dogs like sharon have docked tails. I was asked if I'd have the pups tails docked....what do you think? I kinda like tails

I don't really think there's any point in docking tails unless it's in the standard or they are working dogs.

I'd definitely talk to other breeders and see what they suggest for the docking issue.

I dock my own puppy's tails by banding.I of course learned from someone.I found it to be less stressful to the puppies and the mother.Have you ever heard a puppy scream when it's tail is cut off.Not something I injoy,so banding is better for me.
