cocker or cavalier?

Ok, as I've mentioned before, I am getting a spaniel pup for my mom. She has been wanting this for SO long. The thing is, she wanted a cocker forever, then she saw the cavalier and changed her mind. Now, I have a dilema. We can't afford a $1200 cavalier. We looked into rescue, and though it might be a possibility, these little guys just aren't in rescues that often. So, I am thinking about talking her into the cocker again. That way, I can go to a breeder and through them, either rescue or just get a puppy. I don't know what my next step should be. I want to get this pup soon, but I want to wait until I get a good pup. I know she loves cockers and you can find a healthy, pet quality pup for a reasonable price around here.

I think you should be honest with your mom and tell her that you cannot afford to pay quite so much money for the Cavalier. She will understand.

My brother recently rescued a Cavalier, they told us that is rare for them to get them in too. They are great dogs though, but I love the American Cocker Spaniel too! Good luck finding a dog for your mom!

That's what I'm afraid of... I want another so bad, that puppy searching for her is killing me, lol. Oh, well, Star is due to be in heat and bred this very month and a sweet little smooth pup is just what I need. ::sighs in wonder::

You need to just see which breed is the right one for her. They are 2 totally different dogs. I personally would go with the cocker but that's just my opinion. And collies are cool but they aren't for everyone lol. And cats too. If she wants a dog don't get her a cat unless that's what she really needs. Cavaliers are really cute dogs but if you can't buy it, then you can't buy it. If you can get the same quality pup for a way lower price that you can afford more easily just tell her and I'm sure she would love the pup like any other dog and it won't really matter.

lol, I would never get her a cat. I was just joking about that. She loves collies, but doesn't like long haired dogs and prefers small dogs. Again, kidding. My mom has researched both breeds and has found that both appeal to her, though in different ways. She prefers the cavalier's personality, but still loves cockers.
