The Problem with Coton Coat

Kirby's coat is very, very soft and thin, about the texture of cotton balls, and it retains everything that touches it. It's really not a big deal though. His coat is exactly the same all over his body, so a run through with my single tool, my poodle comb, pulls everything out nicely. 10 minutes a day keeps him delightfully mat-free.

Well yesterday after agility, Kirby is walking through some wet grass, and when I get in the car, I bend down to pull something black off of his facial hair. It's dark, but I think it's a burr... Something those pull out a few hairs when I remove them from Kirby, but I think I've developed a way by now to pull them out nicely... I try to pull it out... It's not pointy, it's squishy.

It's not a bur! It's a baby slug... all curled up into a tiny ball on his face! EWWWW!!!! I touched a slug!!! EWWW!!!! There was a slug on my dog!!! EWWWW!!!! That was gross

Don't laugh, it was nasty.

Okay, it was funny if you're not me lol. THAT was more gross than that nasty fish that Kirby caught for me before. At least I saw that clearly before I had to touch it. lol

That is pretty funny is a disgusting kind of way. Slugs and snails are icky, but at least they don't bite or anything!

How did you get it off him by the way?

haha, We habve only one Coton with a full coat where I work, the rest are just clipped down, when this dog comes in we find everything in his coat (He lives at the beach!) but the strangest was a small periwinkle tucked into his coat, not that much different than a slug!
