I know how you feel! Lilly gets done soon too and I'm worried about it but I know I shouldn't be really.

With Angel especially things should (and I'm sure will!) go just fine, the sooner you get them done the better it is and apparently the chance of complications is lower too.

With previous dogs they all came through really well. All of them they were up and about the same day, and by the next day they were happy again!

I don't think you'll need to do anything to prepare her, just what the vet says.

Good luck and try not to stress (I know, easier said than done!! lol) Angel will be fine! The positives far outweigh the negatives and you just need to remember that!

Just do as your vet says and dont let her eat or drink from the night before untill she goes in, your vet will tell you how long to fast her for, and be honest with the vet if you think she may of sneeked something or you forgot and fed her then tell him/her and they will re schedul it. i think you will be suprised how much like their old selves they ack when they come home, I think we expect them to be quite and groggy but i have always found themj to be normal, just make sure you keep an eye on those stitches so she doesnt pull at them or lick them too much, and make sure she has the complete course of meds after the spay, and you both will be fine

best advice i can give, get the reccomended blood work, just to make sure there are no ailments you need to worry about ( anemia being the main one). Also, when she comes out of surgery make sure the doctor gives her an antibiotic injection, and a pain injectstion. Then also request pain meds to go home ( I prefer metecam b/c its liquid and kinda tastes like honey) anywaz, there should be enough pain meds for approx 5 days. this will definatly help her.
Also, no food or water when she comes out of surgery, wait a little while, and then give her a small amout and a small amout of food IF she can hold down the water. If you give to much food or water she can throw it all up. Also, when you go in for the surgery ask the vet what kinda of anestesia they are using, some are more harsh on the system ( and the animal is knocked out longer) than others. Ex Iso Floriene ( stronger anestesia), Sevo ( my personal fav bvery light and wick to come out and go under with). So ask questions if you are nervous the techs should be more than happy to answer your questions and exsplain the procedure to you. =) let us know how she does =)

I know how you feel, Tillie was spayed the day i went to actually get her, and she was down in the dumps for ab out 2 or 3 da ys..it takes alot of energy out of them, but she will be up to spunk after a few days, just make her a nice lil bed (my bed was hers since the day she got here..and she has taken over my spot) soo just make her comfy and give her loves!

Also, if she's dirty.. do the surgery techs a favor. Give her a bath. After you clip, you scrub the patient.. if she's dirty.. this can be a LONG step before surgery.

I'm glad you started this topic because I was thinking the same thing - what do I expect for when Poppy goes in next week!

Our vet said there won't be any stitches for her to pull at (apparently they are going to glue her back together - lol) and she won't need any meds either. Do you normally get meds then?

Poppy isn't allowed anything to eat after 8pm the previous evening and no water after 7am on the day of the spay. I even have to make sure I am back from our walk before 7am so she doesn't drink from any puddles
