Bloat

I saw a short news article on tv last night and even though I know that I don't have to worry as much about bloat with Penny as it seems to be worse for the larger dogs, but am concerned for my niece's lab and my nephew's golden retriever/rott mix. Does anyone know what causes bloat? What can be done to prevent bloat? Any other way to detect bloat besides the swelling and hardening?

I know that I could look it up on the internet, but I wanted to find out from "real" people.

There is a sticky up top of this forum that has health links there is Bloat on both pages of the sticky.

I posted a long article on bloat on page two of the sticky.

I have to worry about bloat because Rudy and Jenna are both deep chested dogs.

Go have a read.

If you want I can get you the link as well,.
