Exclamation WORMS! I Have Questions

I've had my dog Maddie for 2 months. She has had all of her shots and she's been wormed twice. I work during the day and she goes to the potty on pee pee pads so I always see her stuff. Today she pottied and there were worms. How did she get them? Can they get out and go all over my house. The vet isn't open until monday. Is it okay to wait that long?

Were they long and skinny all wrapped together or short and whitish like rice?

Those would be Tapeworms. They need to be treated with Droncet. This is different then the "puppy" worming. Tapeworms are typically caused from fleas or eating rabbits, birds Droncet is a one time pill, based on your dogs weight.

Tapeworms can be transmitted if you digest them (EWWW) So just to be safe isolate pup as the worms do vacate thru the rectum without fecal matter.

If I take her Monday to the vet would that be too long to wait?

No, there is no immediate danger. Just use good hygene, the worms can vacate like I said, but don't live long outside the host.
