Grooming a Cocker Spaniel
When should I start getting Penny clipped? I have never had a dog groomed other than nails, so have no clue what needs to be done or when. I know that around the ears special attention has to be paid to the clipping to keep as much air circulating as possible, but at a loss when she needs clipping. Since she is a pet and not going to be used for show, I really don't want to have a clip that would require maintenance all the time.
What is the difference between a puppy cut and a regular cut? I know I will think of more questions later, but this is good for now.

right first of all u really dont want to have her clipperd if u do this will dry up her coat of all the natural oils which give the cockers there lovly sheen and after having her clipped a few times her coat may go wooly and u will need her doing about evry 6 weeks to keep them neat
the best thing to do is to hand strip them this is easly learnt and they look lovley when they are done and it just strips away any dead and old coat leaving only new glossy coat if u want to learn how do do it i would ask ur local dog groomer i learnt how to do it quickly and there is such a diffrence if u get her clipped then u wont be able to go back to hand stripping which is such a shame but any of r clients that do have them clipped do regret it really badly they will keep a lovly young and health coat if hand stripped but we do some times say to ppl that we can keep under ther armpits and inside of there ears shaved out for ease really but also if thinned then the ears will get lots of air to them how ever long they are if u hand strip each time u groom then it wont take u to long to do in the chocolate one the dead and old coat gose a reddy orange especally on the head and can be stripped away quickly or even thinned away |

It doesn't hurt the pup? I don't want anything that will cause her pain. Stripping sounds almost like waxing AND that hurts!!!!!

lol it dosnt as long as u start when thy r young they get used to it as long as u do it right it shouldnt hurt them as it is only dead hair u pull out if i had a spaniel that is what i would do much better look and they get used to it as well i would never do any thing to hurt one of my own dogs so i would say go 4 it
im trying to get my boyfriends mum to get a boarder terrier just so i can hand strip it lol |
