Best Food,

Hi Guys,

Just fostering a very wormy puppy at the moment, who is quite thin, I have given him Drontal but just wanted your opinions on the best food to give him at the moment. Thanks.

Innove dog or puppy food is great to add the weight on. It was very hard to keep weight on my boxer being so active. I just love it!

Thanks for your super quick response Sharky. I'm over here in the Uk and have had a look on the web for innove puppy food, but no luck! Any ideas if it goes under a different name in the UK?

I second Innova. It is very good, and very high energy. I don't know about for putting the extra pounds on though. Since it is very high quality, a dog doesn't need much of it to get enough nutrients. But too much is... too much. It's 2000 calories per cup. I only feed 50% innova because my already hyper pup gets way too hyper!

It is great for health though...

I'm not familiar with what foods are available in the UK, sorry.

If he's just been de-wormed he might have a little bit of a touchy stomach, a bland diet (some rice and a bit of boiled white-meat chicken is what I use) with a tiny bit of canned pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie filling, but pure pumpkin.) can help settle his stomach a little bit and help with the explosive diarrhea that puppies get after being de-wormed and/or having their diet changed. It's definitely not a long-term diet, though, I only do it for a couple of days if one of my dogs has a problem.

Be carefull as you want to put weight on slowly, if he is now on a good diet then he should slowly put condition back on, what foods are availiable to you and in your price range?
