I have always feed my dogs at scheduled feeding times, AM & PM. Especially with my Dane mix, because I worry about bloat and she is a pig and would eat every bite if I offered her free choice feeding.
However, I have heard that free feeding may be healthier if its started young and the dog learns not to gorge themselves. I'm wondering if I should free feed my puppy.... What are your opinions? Which is better? Healthier? |

scheduled feeding only free feeding leads to fat unhealthy looking pup or dogs. Keep a tight schedule for healthy happy dog n pups, good breeders would always recommend this type of feeding and we the dry kibble with warm water and stir ten seconds to let gases escape from causing bloat or one of the reasons that can..

I free feed. It is easier and I think they should be able to eat when they are hungry. I do make sure to watch their weight and also ensure that neither one is food stealing out of the other's bowl. It works well for me though and my dogs are very healthy.

For the feeding issue: I would do schedualed feedings. That way you are able to moniter how much food your dog is eating, or if they are not eating at all you can know right away that they aren't feeling so great. Also if you ever worry about dominance schedualed feedings will help because YOU feed the dog, and they can't control the food. |
