Question Food Question

I know we talk and talk about it.
I went to buy food for the kids, and the store was out of the type of Eagle I feed. I started looking around at different Eagle foods, the price of the other Eagle is much higher then the one I buy. Cost is a concern, since I am feeding 2 large, young dogs.(very possibly a 3rd dog ) (thats another thread)
I am concerned with quality at a reasonable price.
I was told by a member DogtorJ(who hasn't been around much) Eagle would be good for Cliffords focal seizures because its an all nayural holistic blend. He has been on it for probably 4-6 months, and things have gotton better.

I compared indgredients on the Eagle I usually buy, and Diamonds Premium Edge. The diamond seems to be better, and is actually about 2.00 a bag less.

Now to the question...I guess I am wondering about the Eagle "all natural holistic" compared to Diamond Premium Edge. Which would be better in controlling Clifford focal seizures?

I feel like I have just rambled and made no sense! Can you tell I am confused, and only want the best for my babies?

as for the Diamond Premium Edge food.... i actually can't find that one listed on the Diamond website. there is a Premium Adult Formula, but i don't see one called Premium Edge, so i can't really offer an opinion on ingredients and such.

doesn't look like your state was part of the recall anyway -

The following statement has been posted on the Diamond Website:

Important Customer Alert
Media Statement
Diamond Pet Food

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 20, 2005

Diamond Pet Food has discovered aflatoxin in a product manufactured at our facility in Gaston, South Carolina. Aflatoxin is a naturally occurring toxic chemical by-product from the growth of the fungus Aspergillus flavus, on corn and other crops.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have notified our distributors and recommended they hold the sale of all Diamond Pet Food products formulated with corn that were produced out of our Gaston facility (see complete list below). Please note that products manufactured at our facilities in Meta, Missouri and Lathrop, California are not affected. The Gaston facility date codes are unique from other Diamond facility codes in that either the eleventh or twelfth character in the date code will be a capital “G” (in reference to Gaston). The range of date codes being reviewed are “Best By 01-March-07” through Best By “11-June-07”. Diamond’s quantitative analysis records substantiate that Diamond’s corn shipments were definitively clear of aflatoxin after December 10. As such, “Best By 11-June-07” date codes or later are not affected by this notice.

States serviced by our Gaston facility include Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky (eastern), Main, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, Vermont, and Virginia.

We are rapidly analyzing retained samples of all products produced in Gaston so we can isolate specific lot numbers impacted and provide this information to our distributors, retailers and customers as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, if your pet is showing any symptoms of illness, including sluggishness or lethargy combined with a reluctance to eat, yellowish tint to the eyes and/or gums, and severe or bloody diarrhea, please consult your veterinarian immediately.

Product quality and customer satisfaction are important to us. We pledge to keep you updated as new developments occur.

For something like this, especially because of Cliffords health concerns, I'd go right to the vet and ask. I'm not an expert on dog food AT ALL...in fact, I just learned about Eukenuba (which is what I feed) and I will be switching after I speak to my vet about it.

If you are worried about it buy the one with NO corn in it. Corn can be an issue even with horses as it can have that toxic mould/fungus on it before processing.

Try to match what you are already feeing as closely as possible by ingredient.

That looks pretty good. The flaxseed will give a luxurious ( Sp )coat.

I would go for that. ( If I was feeding dry )

Good, I thought the same, I value your opinion.

Did anybody even catch the fact that I may be feeding 3 dogs on a permanent basis?
Choppers first foster mommy is really working on me to keep him. She has offered to pay for an obdience class. Gosh, I just dont know!
