Looking for help with my Chihuahua and her puppies!

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and just 4 days ago, my female Chihuahua had puppies. She has been very healthy and the puppies have been getting milk from her everyday and nothing has been wrong. However, today I started to notice that the female wasn't eating any food and she was always laying down. I understand that she just gave birth, but then I noticed that there was blood in her feces. She is also starting to throw up and both excrements smell very very bad. I have no idea what to do at this point, should I just take her to the vet and have her checked out?

Please help me, thank you!!!

-George

Yes, take her to a vet immediately. Don't take the chance.
I hope everything is okay!

Sounds like you should call the vet and ask what they think... They will probably tell you to bring her in... that's all I can say, I don't know what could be wrong with her. It's better to be safe than sorry though. Good luck with her and I hope all is well.

okay guys update!

i contacted my aunt to get some more insight since shes all into breeding puppies. turns out that the blood in the poop was just from licking the blood off of the puppies when they first came out (eck). Now her poop looks very healthy! and shes no longer throwing up and eating healthy dog food. we also bought some stuff with extra nutrients for her since she looked a lot skinnier than before the birth because she had a bad appetite.

all in all, the dog is in great shape now and the puppies are great too! i got 3 of them, and we're starting to feed them just-born supplements . ill post a few pics later, i need to find my digital camera hehe.

does anyone know when chihuahua puppies open their eyes?
