Dew Claw problem ***HELP***

I have a yellow lab/italian greyhound mix (we think at least) and she's having some problems i'm really really worried about.

Her right front dew claw must have got snagged or something, but the inside of the claw, the fleshy part is completely pulled out from the inside of the claw. She's walking around totally normal, but it's obvious it bothers her. She won't let us touch it, or look at it, and if anything brushes it she yelps. Please healp i'm really worried.

I know it can be very painful. Not sure what you could do, call the vet and see what they can do.

Ouch.. i'd reccomend calling the vet..

In many dogs, those are removed..

but that decision is yours. You could just give it time. There's not much you can do that I know of, though.

I also suggest going to a vet. They can give a local to dull the pain so they can have a good look at it.

If you have them removed, I would suggest gettiing it done by laser surgery as it is a lot less bleeding and problems.

Yeah, I also suggest the vet..maybe there is something that can give you to help the pain...and I'd go with Dax on the laser surgery.

have the vet remove it. Dewclaws are kinda a newsance, and are sually removed b/c of such problems with snagging. I would go to the vet and they will ptut a numbing agent on it ( shot wize) and take it off its not attached by a bone... but all will be fine, just breath, and go to the vet =)

I would have the vet look at it and make the determination if it needs to be removed. Most likely, it will be removed.

If Denali's dew claws ever bug her, I'll probably have them removed... but until that day she'll keep ALL of them (Pyrs have double dews for those who didn't know)

I'd go to the vet to have them removed. All my dogs have them, but they have never been snagged on something.

One of my dogs used to tear them on a regular basis. I used to clean them up - medicate and vetwrap them - but you really have to know what you are doing.

I finally ended up having them taken off when he was in for dental as they are just a complete pain.

My sons dog has dew claw problems and the vet will put him on atibiotics to prevent infection. The claw should really be removed.
