need some advice
I have a Pekingese (6lb. sleeve) who I have had bred unsuccessfully three times. She is 3 1/2 years old, white/party, beautiful and now pregnant with the neighbor's white shitzu, by pure accident of course. She went into heat a whole month earlier than she ever has before in the past and we had no idea. Anyway, we're expecting around the 25th of January. Since this is her first and probably only litter, will she need surgical intervention and how much if anything should I sell the puppies for? We live in a very small town, alot of people are acquainted with muffi because she goes EVERYWHERE with me and people just LOVE her! They're excited to know she's going to have pups but I'm not sure if I should sell them or give them away. I guess my fear is that I'll sell them to cheap or give them away free and that person will mistreat the puppy. I kind of wonder if sometimes you have to put a price on them so you get only serious inquiries. I don't know what to do....please offer any advice you have! Thank you and God bless!

If you don't want the litter you could still get her spayed. Becouse she had so many problems with the breedings (If a don't can't take naturally they should be spayed, in my opinion) It's more likely that she will have problems witht he birth, I would have your vet on call.
As for selling puppies ask for a small adoption fee but make the people sign contracts saying that if they ever have to give the puppy away you will get it back, and that they will have the pup spayed or neutered. |

I would say offer the puppies at a reasonable price. Like you said, if you just "give" them away they may trigger "spur of the moment" decisions to get a puppy and then end up in a home that doesn't really want them. I would say $75.00-$100.00 is fair.

If I were you, I would keep track of all the medical bills including the first vaccinations and then divide that by the number of pups.
I don't think anyone minds paying for the vet treatment the mom & pups need. |

I'm with above, just an adoption fee. HOWEVER, I would be very concerned with the pregnancy at this point, and would not have my brain wracked for the price. A six-pound dog bred to a shih-tzu? Those are mmm 10-18 lbs. The stud is double her size. Be very careful and have a vet on call. Both breeds are brachy as well, many brachy breeds can only have birth by c-section.

Yes i would be also worried, the peice is not as important as the home, they are mutts so dont expect to get loads and as she will prob need a c-section you prob wont even break even, do you have any experence with whelping and raising pups? becasue if not then there are a lot of peopel here that will offer advice and give you soem great links
