Update on Ginger

I posted yesterday about Ginger and the black gum spots. Well the vet called today and said it wasn't anything. I described what is going on with Ginger now and he said the time is coming soon. He told me that when they found her cancer right before Thanksgiving, it was the size of a grapefruit. Yikes I didn't realize that. We mentioned that her back legs were giving out a lot and she seems heavier. I can feel this bad thing in her spleen area. He said that the mass will adventually burst and she will bleed internally. She will just keep getting more and more tired. Today both my husband and I had to help her up two steps to get in the house (separate times). We didn't have her go upstairs to sleep with us last night. We just let her stay in her bed downstairs. I gave her cheese to eat and she ate a few bites and then turned away (last night).
She doesn't hardly growl at Snuggles when she climbs in her bed. It is cute but gad poor Ginger. I don't think Ginger has the strength anymore. I know we will wake up or come home and she will be dead. I hate this. One parts of me wants to put her asleep now or hope she dies now and the other part of me never wants to have her die. Okay, I am rambling. I just hate looking at my sweet dog just laying there. We are having spagetti tonight so I am going to see if she will eat. The vet says the time will be here when she doesn't eat, doesn't get up etc.

I know most of you have been hearing about Ginger since November and are probably getting tired of hearing about her.

Thanks

Thanks. The vet is probably thinking that I am one crazy person. I think I have called them once a week lately concerning something about Ginger.

i am sure they just know you care, they would rather that than someone who doesnt give a stuff, your vet is corect as long as she isnt in any pain now and is till eating ok then leave her, but as soon as she is hurting and refuses to eat then you know its time, be brave, its her way of saying she has had enough, just be there for her that is all she would wish for

Tonight

Gingee did eat spagetti tonight and some veggies. It doesn't matter at this point if she has people food. I gave Gingee and Snuggles a small bone. A little later I heard a bone being eaten. I thought "good" she is eating. Well, Snuggles had escaped from her area and got Gingee's bone and started to chew on it.
She is breathing harder tonight. Poor thing. To see her walk is sad. It looks heavy. She does a lot better on carpet and that is mainly where she is hanging out. To make it easier for her, I brought her dinner to her. My husband said we could take her to the vet tomorrow night for the final time. I don't think I am ready to make that decision. Of course I never am.

I am sorry to hear about Ginger. She is loved so much.
Your hubby may be on to something though. I know how hard it is but be brave.
She loves you and knows how loved she is as part of your family.
I'd pamper her, as you are, too!!!
Make her something special, fatty and yummy, before the vet visit, IF you
decide to go to the vet.
My thoughts are with you.

yes hubby may be right, of course its something you never want to happen, but you need to think about her, make sure you decide because you dont want to be pushed into it then regret anything later, and I agree let her eat what she wants

See

I guess we will see how she does through the night. Gad it is hard to give up a dog that you have had for fourteen years. Well, fourteen years minus seven months (her age when we got her).
