Lyme Desease Question

Hi, My Sahra Jane is 10 yrs. old. When she was about 2yrs she had Lyme. It was pretty bad. Luckily she was cured. And has been on Frontline ever since. Without any problems. In the last 2 days she has been hanging her head and doesn't even want to get in her chace lounge. She cries when I rub her legs. I am worried about her. My question is Once a puppy has Lyme in thier life does it stay with them in some way forever? I don't know what else it could be? Her nails are trimmed so it's not from that. I am even putting a towel under her belly to get her upstairs. I am baffled! Please help! I am giving her aspirin. And she already takes Gluec. She also has arthritis. She's had that for awhile but doesn't react in obviouse pain to it. So I don't think this new problem is from that but I could be wrong. What do you think? Thanks Kimberly

I'm not sure you can really cure Lyme disease, but you can make it managable before it gets worse. At the age of ten many things could be going on. If asprin is not helping I would give the vet a call, maybe an x-ray is in order. Sometimes dogs have flare ups from arthritis given the weather change but if your dog seems to be in that much pain and is not acting normal I'd make an appointment with the vet.

I am taking her tomorrow. I was going to anyway. But I was wondering about the Lyme disease. It's been so long since she had it so I really don't remember the faqs. Thanks I kinda thought that but wasn't sure. Kimberly

I had Lyme in 97. I STILL suffer. I am sure it is the same for dogs.
It's a rotten disease and there is no 'cure'. Some just don't have lasting effects, others do and in different degrees. I had a horrible case, very high titer.
Maybe you can give her a baby asprin daily or something??
She may have developed arthrits---I did!
Poor girl, I know how she feels--sending kisses and hugs to her!
Let us know what the vet says!

I do give her aspirin an she already has arthritis. What kind of effects do you still suffer from? Are your limbs painful? So that means Sahra Jane has been still suffering from this for 8 yrs.? She has never shown any symtoms of anything except her arthitis n the way she has been for the last 2 days. Man I hope she's ok. Her sister Maggie just passed last Nov 2004 of heart failure and thier Father 2 yrs before that. Keep your fingers crossed for us! Thanks LOL Kimberly

Sorry to hear about Sahra Jane! Whether the artritis is caused by Lymes or otherwise, maybe at 10yrs her medication needs to be supplemented. They have some real good prescription meds for arthritis in dogs, I'm sure if that's what's the matter your Vet. will fill you in. Good luck, I hope she gets some relief.
