Don't worry you are not alone; I used to do rescue work and found that some dogs simply have the bad habit of eating either their own poo or other dogs poo and with some dogs you have to watch the kittie litter as well otherwise they will attempt to eat the cat's poo also. Some experts have been claiming for years that when a dog is doing this it is because of a deficiency of vitamins in their diets, others have said that there is a high ratio of pups bred and raised in puppy farms that have this bad habit due to being kept in small cages in their own excrement, others again say that because mum cleans up after her litter and some dams keep this up for a little bit longer then the pups learn this habit from her...I would make sure that she is wormed every 3 months on the dot and supply some vitamins in her diet and ensure that she is fed 2 or 3 meals per day rather than one heavy meal and pick up after her as soon as you can thereby eliminating this habit of hers. I have read articles stipulating that the poo is full of certain nutrients namely Vit. B but I don't care how rich it is, I wouldn't allow it and would try my best to avoid this from happening

Yes it is normal. Haven eats Goose Poop and all that nice stuff. Heres a article on it you can look at.

I didn't read the article, so hope this is not duplicate info.

There are products you can sprinkle on their food that is tasteless to the dog, but makes their poop taste awful. Some people I know have had great results with this and others not. Might be worth a try though.

Two of the products are Deter and Forbid. They have them at PetSmart or you can order them from most dog catalogs like Drs Foster and Smith or RCSteele.

Yes it is so normal almost every dog that I have had has done it and even though it is totally gross it has lots of vitamins in it, my advice is tell her No if you catch her doing it and try to pick it up as soon as she does her business, and by all means DO NOT let her kiss you on the face after she has done it LOL Ewwwwwwww yucky

hehe - very normal. except for Faith, it has to be poop she finds outside from the feral cats or the canadian geese.

Well, Rudy and Jenna like to dine on horse poop. Very hard to stop them when we have seven horses on the property.

Here is something you can add to her food that will make her stop.

Acadian sea kelp. Sea kelp will make it taste awful to her, it is also very good for her. We use it all the time and the dogs do not eat their poop just horse poop now. LOL

You can get it from Mountain dog food and there are two places you can get in Fort MAC:

Fort McMurray Graham Davis(780) 714-4211

Fort McMurray North Star Pet Center(780) 743-4500 10218 Centennial Drive

That is Mountain dog's website. You don't have to start feeding their products you can just buy the kelp. Trust me it works.
