When should mike come in??
HI guys, Some of you might know me from the horse forum, even tho I havent been on there in a couple of months- sorry, lol
I am hoping that ya'll can help me. Dobby, is a Lab mix and this is her first litter and she started having her pups this morning around 10 and it's now 1.11pm and she has had 3, (there so cute) but she hasn't got any milk yet, her tets are big, but no milk and the pups are crying and trying to milk, but theres nothing to eat. So my Q is, is this normal for a 1st time momma, and if so, how long till she gets milk.

OPp's she just had another one, so now it's 4 and no milk.

Well i would think she should have some milk she might need an Oxytocin shot to help you should really get in touch with your vet. Congrats i wanna see some pix though

well there are now 5, and the older ones are sucking, the 2 newest ones are looking for teats. I guess i just didn't wait long enough or s/thing. I know about cats giving birth and horses, but not dogs. lol. This is my 1st time as you can tell.

I think no matter what it is always your first time. LOL. Congrats! Are you taking pictures? If so, would love to see them!

Make sure there is milk not that they are just sucking and nothing is coming out.
They should have milk before they give birth.If there in no milk take her and the pups to the vet. Donna

yes, theres milk.. lol.. I didn't think to try and milk her untill I read yall's posts.. and sat and just watched and then saw some around the mouth's. lol. Just wantta slap myself in the forhead and say duhhh...
And I'm taking pic's, gonna download them to the comp now and I'll post them. Thanks everybody!
